The Yamazaki distillery (山崎蒸溜所) is located in Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, part of Suntory's storied whisky portfolio. Japanese whiskies are enjoying a renaissance, with aged Yamazaki in particular, subject to enthusiastic, and at times frenzied, buying.
Aged in 480L sized puncheons, these whiskies show extra elegance and richness of flavors due to the slower extract from the low wood to distillate ratio. This edition, bottled in 2012, was only the fourth year Yamazaki offered their puncheon-aged whiskies exclusively.
