The Hakushu distillery (白州蒸溜所) is located in Toribara, Yamanashi Prefecture, part of Suntory's storied whisky portfolio. The distillery is located close the forests around Mt Amagoi, and claims to destill notes of earth, pinenuts, and other foresty goodness in its bottles. Japanese whiskies are enjoying a renaissance and subject to enthusiastic, at times frenzied, buying.
This limited edition Hakushu has been aged in ex-sherry oak barrels from Spain.
