The Springbank Distillery is one of the last remaining in Campbeltown, from its heyday of over 30 active distilleries producing quality whiskies in the 19th century. Located on the Kintyre Peninsula and drawing water from Crosshill Loch, Springbank is now owned by J & A Mitchell & Co. Springbank produces three core ranges, Springbank proper, which are usually medium peated; Longrow, a highly peated style, and Hazelburn, a triple-distilled, non-peated whisky.
This bottle of 8 year old Springbank (6 years in refilled-bourbon followed by 2 years in first-fill PX sherry cask) was released in conjunction with the 2021 Online Tasting Week, and reminds us of the pandemic that we all went through (During Lockdowns, Springbank organized various online tasting events to help keep the people's spirits up, so to speak).
