The Glenmorangie distillery produces single malt whiskies and is located in Tain, Ross-shire. If the legends are to be believed, alcohol had been produced in Tain since the Middle Ages, and a Morangie Farm had been known to distill spirits from the beginning of the 18th century. Today, Glenmorangie is owned by the Glenmorangie Company Ltd, a subsidiary of LVMH. Glenmorangie's unique characteristics are due to three factors: 1) Tall stills (the tallest in Scotland) removing more of the heavy esters, lending cleaner, purer flavours to the whisky; 2) High minerality of its water source, Tarlogie Springs; and 3) Woodplay, with a propensity to experiment with unusual casks, giving rise to exotic flavour profiles. Azuma Makoto is an acclaimed flower artist, botanical sculptor, and co-founder of JARDINS des FLEURS. This special collaborations sees Makoto decorating Glenmorangie's 18YO, aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, with beautiful bouquets on the label and box.
