The Pulteney distillery was named after Sir William Pulteney and was established in 1826 in the Pulteneytown area of Wick, Caithness in the Highlands. Being one of the northenmost distilleries in the Scottish mainland, the distillery is relatively inaccessible with barley shipped in, and whiskies shipped out both by sea, the distillates of which are also said to have a "maritime" character due to exposure to sea air. Pulteney sources its water from Loch Hempriggs via an old mill lade, and currently has one wash still and one spirit still, with annual capacity of around 1,000,000 L of alcohol.

This discontinued expression of Old Pulteney 21 Years Old was, like the 17 Years Old, a vatting of distillate matured in ex-bourbon casks with those from ex-Oloroso sherry casks. This bottle spots the decal for 2012 World Whisky of the Year by the prestigious "Jim Murray's Whisky Bible," scoring a record-equalling 97.5 points out of 100. Our bottle also has the Malaysian "Duty Paid" tags.
