The Yamazaki distillery (山崎蒸溜所) is located in Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, part of Suntory's storied whisky portfolio. Japanese whiskies are enjoying a renaissance, with aged Yamazaki in particular, subject to enthusiastic, and at times frenzied, buying.
A discontinued release from Yamazaki, first offered in 2008 in Japan's Watami restaurant chain and named after its Founder / President: Watanabe Miki. Reportedly this is more sherry-heavy than the standard Yamazaki 12.
