The Nikka Whisky Distilling Co. Ltd. was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the Father of Japanese whiskies. Currently headquartered in Tokyo and owned by Asahi Group Holdings, the two flagship distilleries of Nikka are Yoichi (余市蒸溜所, usually lightly smoked from locally sourced peat in Hokkaido) and Miyagikyo (宮城峡蒸溜所, usually producing a non-peated style near Sendai amid lush forests).
This limited edition single malt from Miyagikyo was finished in Manzanilla sherry wood and released in 2018.
