The Bowmore distillery is located on the southeastern shore of Loch Indaal on Islay, and is one of the oldest in the country, being established around 1779 by John Simson. The distillery is now owned by Suntory under a holding company. Bowmore still sources a proportion of its barley from Islay and malt them with their own floor malting, though this is not sufficient for production, and barley from the mainland is also used. Besides a staple of official bottlings, Bowmore also produces limited editions and travel retail exclusives.
This is the original bottling of 1973 Bowmore released for the US market after aging for 21 years.
