Eigashima Shuzo Co. Ltd. is one of Japan's oldest family-run distilleries, and has been making sake and shochu with Japanese traditional craftsmanship since 1888, as well as being the first distillery to obtain a production license for whisky in Japan in 1919. A true pioneer in its field, Eigashima's whisky distillery is located in Akashi, known for its clean air & water, and overlooks the beautiful Seto Inland Sea in close proximity to Osaka. Eigashima’s ninth generation leader, Mr. Hiraishi has uncompromising standards for each of the company's products, with its Akashi whiskies showing particular excellence.
This bottle of Akashi comes from a single oloroso sherry butt, distilled in 2014 and bottled 3 years later by independent bottler Blackadder. 1 of only 847 bottles, bottled at cask strength.
