The Bunnahabhain distillery (Scottish Gaelic: Bun na h-Abhainne meaning "Mouth of the River") was founded in 1881 near Port Askaig, and is one of the nine remaining distilleries active in Islay today. Compared to its neighbours Ardbeg and Laphroaig, Bunnahabhain is characterized by milder peat, although heavily peated bottlings (Staoisha or Margadale) are also available.
For more than 40 years, Silvano Samaroli has been bottling and releasing high quality whiskies under the Samaroli and Coilltean International labels. Over the years he has developed a reputation for selecting only the finest examples of single malt whisky and rum; becoming one of the first bottlers to actively promote cask strength whisky as well as hailing the benefits of bottle ageing. Gaining significant popularity in the 1980s, the Samaroli brand is now considered legendary.
This bottle came from single cask #5877, distilled in 1989 and bottled 2015. One of only 286 bottles.
